THE IMAGE RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOUNDATION

Who We Are?

The Image Research Institute Foundation is a non-profit organization that, since its establishment in 1998, has supported the International Image Festival and other projects such as the Cultural Business Incubator, LASO Coffee Region, and the Creative Industries and Communities Cluster of the Coffee Region (ClusterLab), among others.

These initiatives have helped consolidate interdisciplinary research, outreach, and service activities in the fields of design and audiovisual creation, with the aim of promoting democratic visual communication within the framework of the relationship between art, science, and technology.

Mission and Vision

MISSION

The mission of the Image Research Institute Foundation is to carry out and promote interdisciplinary research, outreach, and service activities in the fields of design and audiovisual creation, with the objective of fostering democratic visual communication within the framework of the relationship between art, science, and technology.

Within the context of the Festival, initiatives developed in open laboratories and through post-digital practices are presented, including bottom-up visions, low-tech approaches, emerging collectives, conceptual hybridizations, transparent technologies, and open data.

VISION

The Foundation will be a leader in communication programs and processes that connect images with society. It will advise individuals, institutions, and public and private administrations on the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of plans, programs, and projects aimed at achieving effective visual communication.

It will also design and develop research programs, areas of study, and projects related to the image.
