Digital and Cinema

Bogotá, May 2 and 3, and Manizales, May 6 to 8

Audiovisual creative works comprising animation, film, video art, or micro-documentary, developed under the curatorial concept of this edition of the festival. Scheduled screenings will be held in theaters and alternative spaces.

The Digital (Y) Cinema sections are part of the International Image Festival program and bring together a selection of 26 short films by 22 directors from 9 countries: Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Argentina, Canada, Brazil, Spain, France, and the United States.

Through diverse perspectives and narrative approaches, these sections explore cinema and digital media as spaces for reflection and creation, addressing topics related to re-existence, survival, and network creation in contemporary social, cultural, and environmental contexts.

Snakes (2024) by Jean-Michel Rolland - France

Snakes is part of Body Limits, a series of 12 works that use performative videos found on the Internet. The multiplication of bodies and the transformations applied to color and speed turn these videos into works of video art that question the boundary between figuration and abstraction.

The original soundtracks have been preserved. Slowed down to the same speed as the image and enriched with various effects, they contribute to the aesthetics of these détournements, or appropriations.

The body, pushed to its limits, transcends itself to give life to new representations of physical activity.
