Thematic Lines

The International Image Festival, in its 25th edition, will take place from September 11 to 18, 2026, in the cities of Bogotá and Manizales: Bogotá from September 11 to 13, and Manizales from September 14 to 18.

The central focus of the festival, and its curatorial line, will be centered on the intersection between image, body, and living archives, inviting the submission of works that explore the body as a territory of knowledge, memory, and transformation in a world mediated by artificial intelligence, digital media, and new ecologies of the image.

This theme explores how interactions among individuals, groups, and communities can strengthen collective creation and collaborative design. It focuses on participatory methodologies that promote inclusion, diversity, and innovation from interdisciplinary perspectives, empowering participants as active agents in addressing social, environmental, and cultural challenges.

Circular Dynamics, Economies, and Autonomous Practices

A reflection on alternative models of production, consumption, and organization based on regenerative principles, prioritizing reuse, self-sufficiency, and ecological balance. This approach imagines and fosters sustainable systems that support autonomous and resilient practices adapted to their specific environments.

Open Knowledge Through Art and Science, Shared Democratically

This theme explores ways to democratize access to knowledge through the fusion of art, science, and technology. It highlights the potential of open platforms and Artificial Intelligence to facilitate collective learning, inspire creative practices, and ensure equitable access to global knowledge while addressing contemporary challenges.

Innovation Grounded in Ancestral Memory and Its Contemporary Relevance

A reimagining of ancestral knowledge in modern contexts, integrating traditional wisdom with contemporary technologies to inspire sustainable solutions. This theme values the richness of collective memory and its applications in creative processes, fostering an ongoing dialogue between the wisdom of the past and technological advances.

Future Memories: Documentation, Conservation, and New Tools for Research and Archiving

Exploring the challenge of preserving knowledge and culture in a constantly evolving world through emerging technologies. This theme prioritizes innovative documentation and conservation strategies, fostering narratives that connect the past, present, and future while ensuring the continuity of collective memory.

Pioneers of Media Art

A tribute to the pioneers who have shaped Media Art as an interdisciplinary field, examining its historical impact and continuing influence. This theme encourages reflection on how their visionary contributions continue to inspire contemporary artistic, scientific, and technological practices, linking foundational principles with current trends.
